Roland Portalier Arena
They owe their name to the name of a former Mayor of the town and a Landes race ganadero. He had the wooden bleachers that used to be set up on the fairground for local festivals replaced and built these arenas.
The fighting bulls made their appearance on August 28, 1927, and the bullring welcomed the greatest bullfighters of the time. The city of Parentis becomes an unavoidable meeting place for bullfighting lovers.
In 1996, the first feria of "Sen Bertomiu" (Saint Barthelemy) appeared, marked by an important diversity of festivities (cavalcades, bandas, bodegas, etc.). The years 2000 were marked by the development of the feria which became one of the most popular in the South-West of France. These arenas of 2800 seats at the origin and increased to 4000 seats in 1964 are the only ones in the North of the Landes.
Discover the new arenas of Parentis
The new arenas of Parentis en Born can be used over a longer period of time thanks to a coverage allowing the organization of public or private events (Concerts, shows) without weather constraints.
This new space allows a diversity of events by associations and partners. With 2600 seats in bullfighting configuration and 1500 seats in show configuration, the new arenas of Parentis en Born become the largest hall in the north of the Landes.
Among the improvements: a fabric cover that lets the outside light through, new bleachers whose size increases from 35 cm to 45 cm, a passageway served by an elevator and three staircases, a removable floor made of composite material plates, a meeting room for 100 people with a kitchen and new equipment storage rooms for associations.
