Greeters Bisca Grands Lacs
But what is a Greeter?
This innovative concept first saw the light of day in New York in 1992, thanks to Lynn Brooks. The city, nicknamed the "Big Apple", created a form of tourist welcome based on meeting the locals, these volunteers being dubbed Greeters. In English, "to greet" means to welcome.
Whether you're in Biscarrosse, Parentis en Born or Sanguinet, Greeters are volunteer residents with a passion for their town. Coming from all walks of life and of all ages (from 18 upwards), they graciously offer, in their spare time, the opportunity to meet visitors. Although Greeters are not professional guides, they do have an in-depth knowledge of their city, and enthusiastically introduce visitors to it during pleasant strolls.
These encounters can take the form of appointments or short walks for up to 6 people, and are always free of charge. The Greeter, driven by a sense of sharing, aspires to unveil the anecdotes and hidden treasures of his or her territory.
