Ocean side: 4 beaches, 4 atmospheres
La plage Centrale, en Famille: This is the best-known beach and has always been the most popular. An extension of the pedestrian street, it's easily accessible. Safe swimming under the watchful eye of lifeguards.
La Plage du Vivier, a wooded beach: Located to the north of the commune, this beach has remained untouched. It's less crowded than the other beaches, as you have to walk a kilometre through the forest before rolling out your towel: it's here, at the foot of this undeveloped dune, that the fish-filled vivier from which the beach takes its name used to be located. At the northern end of Biscarrose plage, the Vivier spot is known to all! Surf the Landes waves with a view of the Dunes du Vivier.
North beach, with its surf: Locals gather here to sunbathe with the family or check out the waves from the terrace of a restaurant overlooking the ocean. Just a hop, skip and a jump from the town center, this vast stretch of sand boasts a lifeguard station open in summer. The beach is reached via a stairway. Free parking is available at the end of Avenue des Échassiers.
La plage Sud, quiet at last: This is the favorite beach of the locals and anyone who wants to get away from civilization for a while. You can devour a book in the shade, on a deckchair at the media library, which relocates here in summer. The south beach of Bisca is the undisputed rendezvous of locals who have been coming here to caress the waves since their earliest childhood. Its particular sandbank offers powerful waves at high tide, which are difficult to surf when the tide goes out. You're sure to come across a few seasoned local surfers here. Enjoy the show!
Lakeside, a concentrate of serenity
With your hat on, sunglasses and book in your beach bag, you're all set for a lazy day! Stretch out your towel on the sand, close your eyes and enjoy the moment. Among the many small, intimate and peaceful beaches of the Grands Lacs, you're bound to find a quiet spot where you can relax in the shade of the pines or under the Landes sun... In the peace and quiet, take the opportunity to refresh yourself between two sessions of farniente... A swim, a siesta, a dip, a book... A real vacation!
Top spot: Gastes for its magnificent promenade and Parentis en Born for its unspoilt lakeside beaches!
